Plan A Visit

Planning your vacation at Horse Country Campground!

If you are looking to plan a fun vacation with your horse, we have lots of fun ideas and camping adventures waiting for you!

Camping at Horse Country!

We have a variety of campsites with options to fit your horses and your needs.

  • Single 20 x 20 corrals, which will give your horse lots of room to roll and lay down. If you are bringing 2 horses, you can put a divider down the middle and then have 10 x 10 for each horse.
  • Double corral sites for horses that don’t know each other well and don’t like being in close quarters together.
  • XL 60 x 20 Corral site with a shelter that will easily fit up to 4 horses comfortably.
  • Also… if you are staying for more than a week, ask about paddock time so they can really stretch their legs.

Each of the campsites has water hook up which is pottable (you can drink and cook with it) and they are near the corrals so you don’t have to carry your buckets.

We don’t have hydro at the campsites, but you are welcome to bring generators (hours are 8 am – 11 pm) or a solar panel. There is hydro at the resort for showers, bathrooms or to plug in a phone.

Please allow at least 72 hours notice and send an email to brenda@horsecountrycampground.com or debra@horsecountrycampground.com

How Should I Plan For The Trails?

We have a variety of trails, terrains and more and we want you to be prepared before arriving at Horse Country.

We advise all of our guests to prepare for some fantastic trail riding and the diverse terrain you will face which includes rocky and hilly trails, water crossings, bridge crossings and clay soil base which can get slick when wet.

We highly recommend shoes on the fronts, or to bring a spare set of boots for your horses. Barefoot horses that are well conditioned to hard ground and rocky conditions should be fine, However, bringing along a spare set of boots is something we do advise to ensure your visit and trail riding is a pleasurable and positive one.

  • Over 50+ km of trails that lead to different destinations such as the White Water Brewing Pub, where you can stop to have lunch, you can read more about them HERE.
  • Have a swim at Voyageur Bay with your horse or just stop for a picnic and enjoy the view of the Ottawa River at one of our picnic tables on site. There are also areas to tie your horses.
  • Enjoy a very scenic trail ride to River Run while enjoying some beautiful trails along the river and amazing scenery.
  • We have a new destination which will take you to Grant Settlement Farm, group trail rides will be on Saturday where they will be serving lunch and you can enjoy some yummy maple syrup. You can trail ride to the farm area every day, but they only serve lunch on Saturdays and the farm is only open on Saturday and special occasions. There is still very beautiful trail riding on the days they are closed and you can read up more about the farm HERE
  • We have a variety of fun trails that range from easy, moderate and extreme. There are plenty of trails so there is something for everyone! The terrain is either sandy, grass, clay, some are rocky and there are fields for when you want to go for a fun gallop!
  • We also have mounting blocks for people who would rather walk down or up, certain trails, or if they for some reason need to get down. The mounting block areas will be marked on the maps.
  • Trails are marked with signs and we are constantly adding new signs, but you do need to follow your maps as well.
  • We also always recommend putting bells on your horses because we are always riding around nature and this could prevent an encounter with wild animals. Also, if your horse is prone to kicking, please tie a red ribbon around their tail to let others know to stay back when riding on the trails.
  • Check out more information about our trails HERE
